White Oak Cares: Coins for a Cause!

Dear Parents,

The week leading up to Thanksgiving break, White Oak Primary will be hosting a fundraiser to support our friend and colleague Ms. Melody Smith and a parent of two of our students, Ms. Stormie Wilburn.  Melody is a 5th-grade teacher at White Oak Intermediate School and a long-time member of this community.  She has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of brain cancer and is undergoing treatment.  Stormie is a White Oak graduate and is the parent of twin boy, in our early education program, and a newborn.  She is currently in critical condition at Baylor Hospital from complications of pneumonia.  This family recently lost insurance.

We have hosted fundraisers like this in the past.  This time we would like to split the funds between the two families.  Our fundraiser will be called, “White Oak Cares: Coins for a Cause.”  Please have your child bring coins or donations to their classroom donation bucket daily.  We will total the coins at the end of the week before we leave for Thanksgiving break.  To encourage participation, students may wear fun things during the week.

Monday, November 18th – “Team Melody #StrongerTogether and Team Stormie #StormieStrong”
-Wear your favorite team jersey (especially Dallas Cowboys in support of Melody and her favorite team and/or Roughneck colors in support of Stormie, a WO graduate).

Tuesday, November 19th – “Sweet Dreams for Melody and Stormie”
-Students may wear dress-code appropriate pajamas.

Wednesday, November 20th – “Hats Off to Melody and Stormie”
-Students may wear hats to school.

Thursday, November 21st – “Sending love to Melody and Stormie”
-Students may bring their favorite stuffed animal to school.

Friday, November 22nd – “Roughnecks are Thankful!”
-Students may wear Roughneck t-shirts or colors and bring a sweet note for Melody and Stormie.

Any amount you can send will be helpful to these two precious families.  Thank you for supporting our fundraiser.

Sincerely,
Claire Koonce and Stephanie Bradley
