The State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, will be given this week. On Monday, May 8th, our 3rd and 4th grade will take the STAAR math. A few of our 5th grade will take the STAAR Math Retest. On Tuesday, May 9th, the same groups will take the STAAR Reading and Reading retest. On Wednesday, our 5th grade will complete the STAAR Science assessment.
Because of this, parents please do not plan on eating lunch with your child Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday of this week. We appreciate your help and understanding!
If making plans to eat out this Thursday, why not consider Bubba’s in Longview. This Thursday, May 4th, if you will mention White Oak Fundraiser, they will donate 10% of your total check to the White Oak Class of 2018 Prom. You do NOT need to bring in the flyer. Just mention it to your waiter or waitress to take advantage of this chance to help our students. Thank you for your support to our children.
CLASS PICTURES will be Monday, May 1 for Intermediate classes and Tuesday, May 2 for Primary classes. An order envelope will be sent home this week. If you would like to order a picture of the entire class, please place $10 CASH ONLY in the envelope that was sent home and return to your student’s homeroom teacher by no later than Friday, May 5th. If you do not have the envelope that was sent home, just place your student’s name and their homeroom teacher’s name on an envelope and place the cash inside. Students will receive an 8 x 10 class picture and a 5 x 7 fun shot with their $10 order.
White Oak Primary students will be participating in a Read-A-Thon fundraiser beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, April 26th and will continue through Friday, May 5th. Each student is coming home today with an instruction sheet for this fundraiser. Please take time to read over this sheet, set up your child’s personal Read-A-Thon page online, and start asking for donations from family and close friends. Thank you for your help in making this fundraiser a success for your child and our school!
In honor of Earth Day, our Kindergarten and First Grade students planted a tree this morning near the pavilion in our Nature Center. We want to thank Schneider Electric for spending time with our students, sharing valuable information. We appreciate their help and generosity for making this possible! We would also like to thank the students from our FFA program for coming and participating with our students.
